Modern Alarms

A supplier (who was subsequently bought by Modern Alarms plc) commissioned Camdata to design a novel central heating controller with integral burglar alarm – the HomePack. 

Advanced features included a pump over-run timer to transfer residual heat in the boiler to the house and provision of several intelligent thermostats to allow multiple zones within a house.  Camdata designed all the hardware and software and undertook the production engineering.

Following a successful technical study, Camdata was commissioned to design an electronic hotel door lock and associated front desk key programming computer.  Features included preventing card copying, extremely low power design, multiple levels of operator hierarchy and timing. 

Software and a custom dongle were produced for a Psion handheld to programme the locks and collect logs.  Following production engineering, the customer produced several tens of thousands of the locks.

Retail security

For a major retail systems house, Camdata designed a system to collect receipt data from a variety of tills and pass that back via a 2-wire RS485 to a master node and then to a central monitoring PC, where the data is combined with images received from cameras.  Several thousand of these were shipped

PCL MSDOS-based computer

Microscribe has provided Two Technologies PCL MSDOS-based computers for many years to the Assa Abloy group for use in hotel door lock systems.

Elsafe

Microscribe provided many hundred PCL computers with internal security modifications for Norway-based Elsafe as master programmers for their high quality hotel room safes.
